1. Avoid full 0–100% cycles
Li-ion chemistry prefers shallow discharges. Aim for a 20–80% window for daily use; reserve full charges for long rides only. The chemistry stress is highest at both extremes — top and bottom — so a partial cycle counts as roughly half a wear cycle.
2. Store between 40% and 60% if parking long-term
If your Svitch will sit unused for 2+ weeks, drop the charge to mid-range. A full battery stored at 35°C+ can lose 4% of its capacity in a single month. Mid-charge at room temperature loses less than 1%.
3. Charge at room temperature
Never charge a battery that just came off a 40°C ride. Let it cool for 30 minutes. Cold cells (under 5°C) are equally bad — they plate lithium internally, which permanently shrinks usable capacity.
4. Use the right charger
Stick with the charger that shipped with your bike. Aftermarket fast chargers may push higher current than your BMS expects, which produces heat — battery's silent killer.
5. Match riding mode to terrain
Sport mode in stop-and-start traffic drains the pack 30% faster than Eco. Save the high-power modes for highway pulls where they actually help.
6. Mind tyre pressure
Underinflated tyres can knock 10–15% off your range. Check pressure weekly — it is the easiest free range upgrade on the bike.
7. Smooth throttle, smooth braking
Hard acceleration spikes current draw, which heats the pack. Smooth, gradual throttle is kinder to the battery and your range estimate.
8. Avoid deep discharges
Riding to 0% repeatedly causes accelerated capacity fade. The CSR OS will warn you at 10% — heed the warning and find a socket.
9. Update CSR OS regularly
OTA updates frequently include BMS tweaks that improve cell balancing and charge profiles. Subscribe to the update channel.
10. Get it inspected annually
Every Svitch service centre offers a free battery health check. A 20-minute scan reads cell balance, internal resistance, and SOH — early warnings save you a ₹15K replacement.
Pop the battery off the bike and bring it inside to charge during summer — your range and lifespan will both thank you.
